Two became three, with Dougy joining the LEJOG journey.
Whilst lying in our super comfy bed in a country home and in my slightly tired state after a couple of local ales, I imagined the above title rhymed and was catchy. I am still dreaming.
Today was all about Dougy, my brother. He travelled from Horsham to join us for 55 miles of smooth, flat riding; beautiful sunshine and inspiring conversation. What a treat!
Sadly, the only thing flat was the conversation and Doug decided to ride so slowly the clouds caught up with us and I was wetter than a fish's wet bits.
Thank goodness for my wonderful sister-in-law, Benita, bakes us flapjacks and brought my smiley little nephew to meet us at the end. It was lovely to see you Benita.
To be fair to Doug, he did leave me for dead on the hills, catch me as I almost fell off my bike into traffic with my foot stuck in the peddle and sung some cracking tunes in his dulcet tones.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people this trip - Benita's flapjacks; the countless congratulation messages in response to our engagement; family coming out to meet us; our airbnb hosts greeting our muddy arrival with tea and cake, helping us wash our bikes and sending us off on our way with pockets stuffed with homemade blueberry muffins (If you have not used airbnb before, start immediately - it's amazing).
The fact that you are reading this post right now warms our hearts. So thank you for sharing this journey with us.
